X Ensemble

The X Ensemble is a new contemporary chamber music ensemble performing new music, works of living composers and modern Jazz arrangements of classic works (such as Beethoven’s "Emperor” Concerto.), featuring elements of minimalism and a strong improvisational component. The group’s moniker of “X” indicates variable, both in size and in instrumentation. 

For this year’s Dusklit Festival they will present the world premier of “Sunset Variations”, a site specific composition/performance for 9 musicians, composed by pianist & composer Neil Alexander. The piece is scored for nine musicians, 6 of whom start on the grounds and slowly make their way to a central point to rendezvous with the remaining 3, resulting in a glorious sonic climax at the moment of Sunset.
